Englishtutoring, in personor online

Get help with school reading, writing and prescribed texts, matched to your grade and English course. Meet in person in Cape Town and surrounding areas, or online anywhere in South Africa.

Reading

Understand what you read

Read a passage with your tutor, talk through unfamiliar words and explain its meaning. Practise finding the detail that answers a question, at a level suited to your grade.

Writing

Write with a clear purpose

Work on sentences and paragraphs, then build towards longer writing tasks as your course requires. Plan your ideas, review a draft and practise correcting grammar and punctuation.

Literature

Explain your reading of a text

Bring the poem, story or set text your class is studying. Discuss what the writer is doing, choose evidence from the text and explain how it supports your answer.

Assessment preparation

Prepare for your next assessment

Bring a marked paragraph or practice task. Work through the feedback, plan an answer that fits the question and try another task independently.

Before you enquire

A few useful answers.

What should I share when requesting an English tutor?

Tell us the grade, curriculum and English course or language level. Include the task or text you are working on, any assessment date and your preferred lesson format and times.

Can you help with primary-school reading and writing?

Yes. Share the learner’s grade and current reading or writing tasks so we can look for a suitable tutor. Lessons can focus on understanding a passage, vocabulary and writing sentences or paragraphs.

Can you help with my prescribed texts?

Share the titles and the questions or assignments your class is working on. We use these details when looking for a tutor who can help with your course.

What should I bring to a lesson?

Have your text, class notes and task instructions available. A piece of your own writing with teacher feedback helps the tutor see what needs attention.

Can a tutor help me with an essay?

Your tutor can help you understand the question, plan your ideas and review your writing. You write and submit your own assessed work. Share your school’s rules for outside support.

Where can I have in-person lessons?

Request lessons in Cape Town or the surrounding service areas. Share your suburb and preferred times so we can check tutor availability. We confirm the address and any travel costs before booking.

Can I have online lessons outside Cape Town?

Yes. Online tutoring is available throughout South Africa. Choose Online in the enquiry form, or Either if both formats suit you.

What happens after I enquire?

Our team contacts you to discuss your learning needs, a suitable tutor, the schedule and a private quote. Lesson arrangements are confirmed before booking.
